Welcome to week 3 of the 6 week relationship challenge! We know Week 2 can be a challenging one and are proud of you for trying it out! (If you missed it, you can find Week 1 HERE and Week 2 HERE) Next up is appreciation!
After last week’s challenging one, we went a little easier this week. Easier doesn’t mean less impact though! We still think showing appreciation for your partner can make a big impact on your relationship!
This week we challenge you to:
before going to bed, tell your partner 3 specific things that you appreciated about them that day
We’ve noticed that we tend to tell each other more constructive feedback throughout the day than positive feedback. Hearing all of that constructive feedback without the positive can be wearing on a relationship and make you feel like your partner doesn’t always see your positive qualities.
Spending some time to intentionally point out the positives can make your partner feel seen, heard and appreciated for being themselves. It doesn’t just have to be things that you did for each other, it can also be things that your partner just did in their life. It can also be really small things! It’s often the small things that don’t get credit and it can be nice to know that your partner noticed.
It’s always interesting to us to see what the other person noticed and it’s usually not things we would’ve realized that they notice. Besides being appreciated, it’s always a nice way to get to know each other more and know what the other person notices.
Do this even when you’re mad at each other/in a fight! It’s sooo sooo helpful during those times! It can really help break the tension and redirect you to focus on what matters most.
If your love language is words of affirmation, this week will feel extra special to you! Regardless, it can be really nice to hear the positive things your partner appreciates about you!
