Best time of year to plan an Aruba Honeymoon:
There isn’t really a “bad” time of year for your Aruba honeymoon as the weather is amazing year around, so feel free to visit whenever you like! Here are some things to keep in mind for each time of year:
January – March:
This is the most expensive time of year to visit Aruba. You may find that hotel prices are much higher this time of year. Temperatures tend to range from the mid 70s to mid 80s. If you start planning your Aruba honeymoon well in advance, you may be able to find some hotel deals.
April – August:
This is best time of year for your Aruba honeymoon to get great prices on hotels! Temperatures are higher this time of year, ranging from the low 80s to the high 90s, however, the frequent high winds will keep the temperature from feeling too hot. Thanks to the dry, semi-arid, desert like climate, there isn’t too much humidity to be concerned with. There’s also no need to worry about hurricanes on your Aruba honeymoon; Aruba’s position in the Caribbean Sea puts it outside of the hurricane belt.
If you’re able to travel in August, we recommend timing your trip to be able to participate in Aruba’s vow renewal ceremony. It’s such a magical and romantic event to participate in during your Aruba honeymoon.
September – December:
Room rates are a bit lower during the fall and rise as you start to get towards the winter months. Fall is also when the trade winds start to die down. This time of year has the most rain of the year, but most days are dry and rain free. Fall would be a wonderful time for an Aruba honeymoon!
Things to Know When planning an Aruba Honeymoon:
Currency:
The official currency in Aruba is the Aruban florin, but US dollars are widely accepted. If you’re traveling from the United Stated on your Aruba honeymoon, you won’t need to exchange money as you can pay in US dollars and receive change in US dollars.
Tipping:
Dining: Most dining establishments in Aruba include a 10-15% service fee on the bill. This service fee is split among all restaurant staff. If you enjoyed your experience and received good service, it is generally customary and appreciated to add an additional 5-10% specifically for your waiter
Taxis: Generally 10-15%. Exemptions include: at least $1-3 on weekends, and at least $1 after midnight
Hotels: Most hotels add on a 10-15% service fee to be split among all hotel staff. It is still customary and appreciate to tip the bellman $1-2 per bag and about $2 a day for housekeeping
Drinking water:
The tap water is safe and clean to drink! You can buy bottled water if you prefer, but no need to worry about water safety in Aruba! Since Aruba does not have any significant natural sources of fresh water, the water is distilled in a saltwater desalination plant.
Electricity:
Aruba uses the North American voltage standard and outlets.
Language:
We noticed most Arubans are multi-lingual! The official languages on Aruba are Dutch and Papiamento, but most locals speak English and Spanish as well.
Getting Around:
If you’re planning on exploring the island and not just staying in the area where your hotel is, we highly recommend renting a vehicle. A jeep would be best in case you’re planning on some off roading adventures, which we will talk more about in the things to do section. All of Aruba is only 19.6 miles long, making it easy for adventurous types to drive the entire country. If you’re not planning on doing much exploring, then you should be just fine taking a taxi to and from the airport and maybe to go out to dinner or a bar. All the hotels are within a 30 minute drive of the airport.
How many days to spend during your Aruba honeymoon:
We spent 4 nights in Aruba and found this to be an adequate length of time, but on the short and sweet side. We’d recommend spending anywhere from 4-10 nights on your Aruba honeymoon.
Days to avoid traveling on your Aruba honeymoon:
We recommend avoiding traveling in or out of Aruba on a Saturday if possible. We left Aruba on a Saturday and the airport was a mad house. The airport staff let us know this happens every Saturday as time share visitors typically arrive and leave on Saturdays. If you do leave Aruba on Saturday or the weekend in general, arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before your flight.
Romantic things to do on your Aruba Honeymoon:
We love a mix of relaxation, exploring, and adventure on our romantic getaways, so our suggestions for romantic things to do on a Aruba honeymoon will be geared toward someone with a romantic adventure travel style. We hope you’ll find something here that appeals to you!
Explore the beaches during your Aruba honeymoon:
Exploring the beaches of Aruba is the ULTIMATE thing to do on your Aruba honeymoon! With an island lined with powdery soft white-sand beaches, you’ll have plenty to choose from. Whether you decide to spend your time drinking pina coladas, working on your tan, swimming in the beautiful turquoise waters, going for long romantic walks, having a romantic ocean front picnic, or snorkeling, there’s something for everyone. Here are some of the best Aruba beaches to explore during your Aruba honeymoon:
Eagle Beach:
Eagle Beach was rated the #4 top beach in the world by Trip Adviser and we can see why! It offers the widest and longest stretch of sand on the island with gorgeous sparkly white sand and turquoise waters as far as the eye can see. We were treated to beautiful nightly sunsets, often times turning shades of magical pink and purple. This is where we spent the majority of our time as our hotel, Amsterdam Manor, was located right across and this is also where we had our vow renewal.
Eagle Beach is perfect for the couple who wants to spend all day and night at the beach. Bask in the Caribbean sun and the calm waters by day and enjoy cocktails and dinner at night. Eagle Beach is also a hassle free beach experience, which is unlike other popular beach experiences we’ve had. It’s easy to find parking, get a spot on the sand, and there aren’t any vendors walking around trying to sell you souvenirs. Make sure you don’t miss the sunset here! It’s absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed walking down Eagle Beach towards Manchebo Beach as we felt the sunsets were even more spectacular along that stretch, but there really isn’t a bad sunset view on the whole island.
Baby Beach:
Baby Beach was named for it’s shallow and calm waters, making it the perfect family friendly beach. Don’t let that deter you from visiting on your romantic Aruba honeymoon though! It’s a gorgeous half moon bay that boosts great snorkeling and is perfect for swimmers who prefer to be able to reach the bottom of the sea. Beach beds and snorkel gear are available for rent on the beach and complimentary beach huts are scattered throughout the beach.
Rodgers Beach:
We discovered Rodgers Beach by accident as we were en route to Baby Beach. It’s a narrow strip of beach that’s relatively quiet. During the week it’ll almost feel like you’ve found your own private beach and on the weekends you’ll find mainly locals. To the left of the beach is a small dock where local fishermen park their colorful boats. This is the tiny kind of beach which will make you feel like you discovered your own personal gem- making it perfect for a romantic honeymoon! Once you’ve had enough of the quiet, Baby Beach is only a 1 minute drive away.
Palm Beach:
Palm Beach is perfect for the couple who wants a side of party with their Aruba honeymoon. Palm Beach is located on the high-rise hotel side of the island, which tend to be the more “glam” hotels. The beach is more lively here and often a bit more busy. The shoreline is dotted with beach bars, restaurants, and shops that you can access by day or night. At night, Palm Beach comes alive with the buzz of the casinos and bars.
Go on a UTV Tour:
We love adventures, so we went on a UTV Tour with De Palm Tours. They offer many other excursions if you’re not interested in a UTV tour, such as a sunset cruise and submarine expedition. We were impressed with their professionalism and highly recommend booking your tour through them. The UTV Tour is perfect for the adventurous couple who isn’t afraid of getting a little dirty. De Palm Tours offers two UTV off road tours: The Natural Pool Off Road Adventure and the Andicuri Off Road Adventure. If you’re going to go to the natural pools on your own, we recommend doing the Andicuri Adventure. If you’d rather go to the natural pools with the UTV tour, then we suggest doing that one. Either way the natural pools are a must!
What to expect from doing a UTV tour on your Aruba honeymoon:
- You will get very dusty! De Palm Tours offers a complimentary bandanna to protect your face and they sell googles for $10. We highly advise buying the googles, as we found them well worth the $$
- Wear a swimsuit under your clothes, especially if you are planning to do the natural pools tour. We’d also suggest bringing a towel
- Wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. We both wore workout clothes and workout shoes. You may want to wear long sleeves to protect your arms from the sun and a sports bra for women as the tour can be quite bouncy…
- The UTV drives just like a car and is surprisingly easy to handle. We switched off driving and both of us found it to be lots of fun and very exhilarating!
- The ride can be very rocky, so it may not be recommended if anyone with a medical condition. We’d advise asking De Palm Tours for more information and checking with your doctor
Renew your vows at the Caribbean’s largest vow renewal ceremony:
Did you know Aruba hosts the Caribbean’s largest vow renewal ceremony every year on Eagle Beach? We had the opportunity to participate in the 2nd annual vow renewal and found it to be a magical and romantic experience. If you can plan your Aruba honeymoon around the renewal which occurs in August, we think it’ll be such a beautiful memory for your Aruba honeymoon. Even if you’ve only been married a few days, we think it’s still an experience you’ll never forget. There’s no wrong time to reaffirm your love to each other and say, “I do again”.
We’ll be blogging our full experience, so check back for that soon!
What to expect from the Vow Renewal:
- Participation is complimentary, reservations are preferred
- Reservations will provide you complimentary transportation to and from your hotel, the ceremony, a goodie bag, and refreshments
- It’s a destination wide initiative and many of the local hotels and restaurants offer special packages
- The vow renewal is done as a large group and is led by a non denominational vow leader. While it sounds impersonal to do it as a group, it’s actually very intimate and romantic
- The renewal concludes with a party on the beach! So much fun!
We wrote all about our vow renewal experience HERE
Visit Flamingo Beach:
Want to hang out with some cute flamingos on your Aruba honeymoon? This is such a unique experience and one that we think is a must when visiting Aruba! Before we visited I thought the flamingos were all over the island, but that’s not the case. If you want to visit the flamingos you’ll need to do a little advance planning. Flamingos made their way to Aruba about 15 years ago and took up residence in the Renaissance Hotel’s private island, appropriately named, “Flamingo Beach”. You’ll need to visit the island in order to hang out with the flamingos.
What to expect at Flamingo Beach:
- In order to visit you need to either purchase a day pass or be a guest at the hotel. Day passes are limited and priced at $100 a person. We recommend staying a night at the Renaissance Hotel in order to guarantee that you’ll be able to get in. This will make for a stress free experience and the price is not much higher. Two tickets will cost you $200, while a night will cost about $270. If you choose to stay at the Renaissance, we recommend staying there on your first night or your last night as the hotel is very close to the airport
- If you choose not to stay at the hotel, make sure to get there at around 6:30am to be able to snag one of the limited day passes for non-guests
- A boat picks up guests at the bottom level of the Renaissance Hotel every 15 minutes. It’s about an 8-15 minute ride to the private island. Arrive early to catch the boat time you want, as they tend to fill up quickly on the way to the private island and will leave once they are full
- Once at the island, you have the option of exploring Iguana Beach and/or Flamingo Beach. Both are beautiful, keep in mind children are not allowed at Flamingo Beach, making it a slightly more romantic experience. There are more food options at Iguana beach, but drinks and some food offered at Flamingo Beach. You can easily go back and forth between the two
- To boost the romance on your Aruba honeymoon, rent a private cabana at Flamingo Beach and/or book a romantic couples massage at the private spa cabana. Once a week they also offer a romantic dinner. You’ll need to make reservations in advance for this, so you may want to plan your visit accordingly
- Bring a US quarter (or a dollar, the bar will give you change) to purchase flamingo food from the vending machine. The flamingos are much nicer if you have food to offer. Don’t be surprised if the birds try to eat the food you have too! Bassam had multiple birds land on him and eat all his food! He had to purchase another round to feed the flamingos 😆
- We did our best to be mindful of our interactions with the flamingos and not irritate them too much. Here are some examples, although, we want to point out we are not flamingo experts, these are just the guidelines we went by because it felt right to us. Do what feels right to you!
- Do not pet the flamingos {I know it’s tempting, but they don’t seem to like it}
- If the flamingo moves away from you, don’t continue to follow it or try to coerce it into being a photo with you. Wait calmly and patiently with food in your hand until they come over to you voluntarily. We noticed the flamingos tended to gravitate towards people who were calm and didn’t try too hard to interact with them
- Give the flamingo some personal space when taking a photo; about three feet. They did not seem to like when people got too close and some of them will nip at you to tell you to back off
- If lots of people have been feeding the flamingos, they may not be hungry. If they don’t seem to acknowledge the food in your hands, there’s no reason to shove it in their face, they probably just don’t want it
- As soon as you see a sign that a flamingo is agitated by anything you are doing, stop. You will get your photo. Just be patient. You also don’t need to be super close for your photo to come out Instagram worthy
- Be mindful of not throwing trash or plastic in the ocean or anywhere around the private island
- Consider using biodegradable sunscreen
Try a water sport during your Aruba honeymoon:
Bassam took a private windsurfing class during our trip with Aruba Active Vacations and he LOVED it! I was supposed to go too, but had just washed my hair and didn’t want to get it wet. Bad decision and I totally regret it. Bassam had SO SO much fun! There are tons of options of water sports available for you to choose from on your Aruba honeymoon. Some options include: windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, stand up paddle boarding, and snorkeling. We chose windsurfing for our water sport because Aruba is known to be one of the best places on earth to practice windsurfing thanks to the perfect combination of water temperature, wind strength, and water conditions.
Here’s what to expect from wind surfing on your Aruba honeymoon:
- Perfect for beginners to learn! It’s an easy sport to pick up, although there’s less scale of growth if you’re looking to get to more advanced levels
- With windsurfing, a sail is attached to a surfboard, nothing is attached to you. If you fall off, you fall off on your own. This felt a bit safer and easier to learn for us. With kitesurfing, the board is attached to your feet like a snowboard. The sail is more like a parachute and also attached to your body. The wind can lift you into the air. Kitesurfing sounds really fun, but since it’s very common in the states, we thought windsurfing would be different for our Aruba honeymoon
- A private lesson is only $30 more at Aruba Active Vacations. We recommend going with the private lesson to get some 1:1 instruction
- The basic lessons involve an hour of instruction and an hour of practice on your own. You’ll get a bit of instruction before going out in the water. You can also take a course or just rent the equipment
- The hardest part is learning to turn; it can be a bit technical. Bassam was able to “surf” without falling on his second try, but turns took a few tries
- You may want to bring water shoes with you; they also have them available for rent
Test your luck at a casino:
We were surprised to see casinos be such a big thing in Aruba, but there are about 10 of them! Almost all of the major resorts have their own. This is a great option for couples who like the high stakes excitement of gaming or are looking for something to do late at night during their Aruba honeymoon. Most of the casinos are open from noon to sunrise, while a few of the larger ones are open 24 hours. We were looking for something to do one late night on our Aruba honeymoon and decided to play craps at the Alhambra Casino. We had a blast and won a few $$. Many of the casinos offer theme nights, entertainment, and events, so check out their website if you’re interested in that.
Some Casino Options:
- Stellaris: The largest casino, located inside the Marriott, slots only open 24 hours/day
- Crystal: Located in the Renaissance Mall and open 24 hours/day
- Seaport: Between the Renaissance Marina and Marketplace, the preferred casino for sports betting fans
- Alhambra: In front of the Divi All Inclusive Resort
- Cool: Located in Riu Palace
- Excelsior: At the Holiday Inn Sunspree
- Hyatt Regency: At the hotel of the same name
- Glitz: Located in La Cabana Resort
- Palm Beach: In the Westin Resort
- The Casino at the Hilton: Located, where else, at The Hilton
Explore the Island:
Take a day of your Aruba honeymoon to explore the island by car and hit up some of these spots below. This is perfect for the adventurous couple who likes to explore on their own. If you didn’t rent a car, you can rent a jeep just for the day to take around the island on your adventure. If you already did a UTV tour, you may be able to skip some of these spots. Start early in the day to avoid crowds and you should be able to fit in all of these attractions. Get ready for a fun and exciting day full of Aruba’s best sites!
Arikok National Park:
This beautiful national park comprises almost 20% of Aruba. Arikok National Park offers a stunning mix of landscape from rugged terrain to a beautiful coastline. You can enjoy it on your own or with a tour. We recommend renting a jeep if going on your own. The park is open to visitors from 8am – 4pm. If you choose to come before, you can only walk in. If you’re already in the park before 4pm, you can stay until 6pm, however, staying after sunset is not recommended as the park does not offer any lighting. While at the park you’ll want to check out: the natural pools, Fontein Cave, Quadiriki Cave, and Prins Bay. There are also several hilltops that offer stunning views. Of all the attractions, you cannot miss the natural pools. It’s a truly magical and breathtaking experience. Be sure to bring a bathing suit and towel so you can take a dip in the natural pools! We also loved the unique triad of natural bridges that have recently formed over the Black Stone Beach. Just stunning!
Natural Bridge:
Although the main natural bridge in Aruba collapsed in 2005, you can still see the remains and a baby bridge nearby. When the bridge stood, it was the largest natural bridge in the world. The remains of the bridge are still a popular tourist attraction.
California Lighthouse:
This old stone lighthouse lies on the northwestern tip of the island and boosts a stunning view. It’s no longer a functioning lighthouse, but now boosts an Italian restaurant and bar. It can get really crowded with tours throughout the day, but can be a little less crowded early in the morning. You can climb to the top and view an amazing 360 degree view any time of day. While there’s not bad place to view the sunset in Aruba, the top of the California Lighthouse is said to be the best view the island has of offer! We didn’t get the chance to visit during our Aruba honeymoon, but we’d love to catch the sunset and grab at drink at the top of the lighthouse on our next trip to the island.
Where to eat during your Aruba Honeymoon:
Aruba offers several unique dining experiences for your Aruba honeymoon. We had a spectacularly different dinner every night and enjoyed each one in different ways. Here are some of the best spots to eat at during your Aruba honeymoon:
Flying Fishbone – Feet-In-The-Water Dining Experience
Flying Fishbone is a feet in the water dining experience, where you dine with your feet in the Caribbean Sea. How freaking cool is that?! This was our favorite dining experience of the trip! We just thought it was so cool and I particularly couldn’t stop freaking out over how excited I was. The restaurant is located on a shoreline and you can choose to sit inside away from the water, on the patio with your feet in the sand, at the shoreline with your feet in the sand and just a little bit of water, or at the very edge with your feet totally in the water and feeling like you’re in the middle of the ocean. We OF COURSE choose the edge option and I LOVED IT! {If you want to see how much I loved it, go watch our Instagram Stories Aruba Highlight} We went on a night with particularly high tide and the water came up to our calves. Since the waves were rowdy that night, our laps got splashed a few times and it just added to my excitement of dining IN THE OCEAN. I’m just going to keep saying that because it’s so cool, YOU DINE IN THE OCEAN! IN the OCEAN! IN THE OCEAN! You feel me? Okay, I’ll turn off my caps lock and calm down now. BUT IN THE OCEAN!!!!
Do your best to go around sunset time, we didn’t and so regretted it, and request a table in the water. It’s about a 45 minute drive from the main part of the island, but well worth the trip. Oh, and the food is pretty good! We weren’t expecting much and thought it would just be an experience sort of dinner, but the food and cocktails were both fantastic.
Passions – Romantic Beach Dining
I have always wanted to have dinner on the beach and it has just never worked out. When I found out the restaurant at our hotel, Amsterdam Manor, offers dining on the beach, I was all for it! The restaurant is called Passions and they bring out tables and torches on the sand in front of the waves every night for dinner. There’s also a live violinist which adds to the romantic atmosphere. I saw on some of the reviews that people complained that it isn’t romantic because it’s not private, so I do feel I need to mention that it’s not private. You are at a restaurant full of people, the restaurant is just open air on the beach. While it’s not going to be the same experience as a private beach dinner, we still felt it was very intimate and romantic.
Screaming Eagle – Dinner in Bed
Screaming Eagle is so much fun! There’s a bar, indoor dining, and outdoor dining, but our favorite place to request to be seated is in: BED! This dinner in bed experience is only available for twosomes, making it the perfect choice for a romantic Aruba honeymoon dinner. We had so much fun with our first dinner in bed experience. We both loved the potato truffle soup, so definitely try that if it’s available when you go!
Yemanja Woodfired Grill – Amazing food!
This dining recommendation is a little different than the others, because unlike the others it is not an experience dinner. One of the things that screams romantic dinner to us is really great food and wine and Yemanja offers just that. All the food is absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. We also had our favorite wine of the whole trip here. We stayed so long that the restaurant had long closed by the time we left. Don’t just take our word for it, they have over 2.5k reviews on tripadvisor and 4.5 stars! We highly recommend the beef carpaccio bombe and the Yemanja power bowl, but I doubt you can go wrong with anything here.
West Deck – Fun, Laid-Back Vibe with Killer Views
West Deck is a family owned fun and laid back restaurant and bar, situated just above the white sandy beach and at the water’s edge. All the tables boast a stunning view of the Caribbean Sea. This is perfect for a relaxed lunch or dinner, where you just want to have some casual fun with your sweetie. All of the food is fantastic and so are their cocktails. They also offer games, which we are all about. The day we went they had just gotten a delivery of passion fruit, so they made fresh squeezed juice and offered any type of cocktail we wanted with it. I got a passion fruit martini and Bassam went for a passion fruit margarita. Definitely check this spot out if you’re in the mood for somewhere casual and fun on your Aruba honeymoon.
Where to stay during your Aruba Honeymoon:
There are several options of where to stay during your Aruba honeymoon. The most common areas are: Palm Beach (otherwise known as the high rise hotel area), Eagle Beach (the low rise hotel area), Manchebo Beach (technically the same as Eagle Beach, but referred to a separate beach), and downtown. We recommend staying at 1 or 2 hotels during your stay and not bouncing around any more than that to keep your trip as relaxing as possible. We personally stayed in Eagle Beach and absolutely loved it. We recommend spending your Aruba honeymoon in either Eagle or Manchebo beach and then spending 1-2 nights in either Palm Beach or Downtown. We’ll go into more detail below:
Eagle Beach:
As mentioned previously, Eagle Beach is the #4 top rated beach in the world by tripadvisor. This is where we stayed and where all the low rise hotels are. The beach goes on for miles of powdery soft white sand and turquoise waters. You’ll be treated to the most gorgeous sunrises and sunsets every day. It’s also very easy to get a spot on the beach and there are tons of beach front bars and restaurants.
Stay At: Amsterdam Manor
Amsterdam Manor | check room rates here | charming boutique hotel, across from the beach, great value
Amsterdam Manor is where we personally stayed on our Aruba honeymoon and we really enjoyed it. It’s right across from the beach, so you just walk a few steps and you’re there. On the beach they offer towels, lounge chairs, and floaties specifically for guests. The hotel also offers complimentary snorkel gear and push bikes. They have a bar and restaurant on the property and also a beach front bar and restaurant. Their rooms are apartment style with stocked kitchenettes and they offer suites and studios. We upgraded to a suite and loved having the additional space. This boutique hotel looks so charming with it’s traditional Dutch colonial architecture style, but also boasts modern amenities. We found it to be a very charming and nice place to stay. The prices are a bit lower here than the other resorts, but you won’t feel like you’re on a budget.
CHECK ROOM RATES HERE
Manchebo Beach
Technically the same as Eagle Beach, but sometimes referred to as a separate beach by locals. The waves are a bit calmer here and it’s a bit less crowded.

Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort | check room rates here | an adults only resort
Palm Beach
This is the most happening beach on the island with buzzing restaurants and bars. The hotels here are mainly high rises and where you can find the fancier resorts.

We hope this Aruba honeymoon guide was helpful for you in planning your romantic getaway! We’d love to know what your favorite romantic things to do on the island are.
Beautiful post so many things I need to go back to Aruba for now ❤️ Thanks for sharing your wonderful time
Thank you! We want to go back too, we were surprised by how much there is to do. I hope you get to go back soon!
These photos are SO DREAMY!! And you are looking like a SNACK Lena, dayum. (Bassam, gorgeous as always.) Brb, booking my flight and buying 198762876 obnoxious shirts with flamingos on them to wear the entire time 😀
Haha you are way too sweet, Lia. YESS! You must go and take alllll the flamingo shirt photos. Can’t wait to see them!
Your pictures look so freaking gorgeous and magical! Aruba looks lovely! There are so many beaches there!
SOOO many beaches, it feels endless! And they are all soooo beautiful!
Congrats on 3 years! These photos are so stunning, looks like you had a fab time!
Aw thank you! We had an amazing time, we loved Aruba!
Ah flamingo beach! That place totally caught my eye! One of my friends and I have a bucket list of beaches with weird animals and this definitely seems to make the cut!
It’s such a great place! We thought it was just going to be fun because of the flamingos, but it’s such a great place to just hang out and relax for the day! With an added bonus of flamingos!
You guys are so adorable and it looks like an amazing place for a couple vacation! Maybe hubby and I need to plan a kid-free trip for our 15th 🙂
yes you should!! and plan it in time for the vow renewal!
I spent a day on Aruba during a cruise and enjoyed it. We did snorkeling by a shipwreck. I would love to go back and do the vow renewal, that sounds like a lot of fun.
We really wanted to do that and didn’t get a chance! hopefully next time!
