When looking for the best Beautycounter products, I looked up so many Beautycounter skincare reviews. I was super skeptical of the reviews I found because the majority were coming from consultants. I just assumed the consultants were biased since they receive a commission off the products they sell. This was such a misguided judgement, because why would someone become a consultant for a product they don’t like?
I ended up deciding to try the brand because the Beautycounter skin care reviews and a few of my friends had me intrigued. I liked the products so much that I became a consultant. I didn’t initially plan on sharing much about Beautycounter, I just wanted to take advantage of the consultant discount when stocking up on my own skincare. Now here I am sharing my Beautycounter skin care reviews because I truly love the brand so much. Oh the irony!
Even though I’m a consultant, these Beautycounter skincare reviews are totally non biased. There are several products I don’t find worth the hype and others I’m obsessed with. I’m sharing my complete transparent opinions with you, just as I always do!
Before we get into the best Beautycounter products and a long list of Beautycounter skin care reviews (which include some of the bestselling Beautycounter products, like the Counter+ All Bright C Serum, Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel, Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum, and Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer) here’s some background information on the brand.
Background of Beautycounter
Beautycounter was founded by Gregg Renfrew, after learning that the US only bans 30 ingredients in skincare products. The ingredients allowed were not things she felt safe for her family to use, so she set out to help transform the skincare industry and create products she could feel good about.
What I love most about Beautycounter (besides their awesome products), is how hard they work to create change in the beauty industry.
The last major federal bill governing beauty products was passed by congress 83 years ago. This is truly an area that is so overlooked and what we put on our skin, our body’s largest organ, greatly affects our overall health and well being.
While the US restricts 30, Canada restricts 600, and the EU restricts 1,400 ingredients from skincare and beauty products, Beautycounter promises over 1,800 questionable ingredients are never used in their products.
Here are just a few fast facts that make me love Beautycounter:
- Over half of the products are EWG (Environmental Working Group) certified, this is the highest mark of approval for product safety
- Beautycounter advocated for the Natural Cosmetics Act, the first US bill to combat beauty industry greenwashing
- In 2019, Beautycounter founder was the first clean beauty CEO to testify at a hearing on cosmetic reform in congress
- Beautycounter has pushed for the beauty industry to disclose the ingredients in “fragrance” (did you know this is a catch all term that other ingredients can be added to?)
- Trace containments can unintentionally sneak into products during manufacturing. Beautycounter’s rigorous testing and safety standards go above and beyond to reduce this risk
- By 2025, 100% of Beautycounter packaging will be recycled, recyclable, refillable, reused, or compostable
- If you’re interested, you can learn more HERE
We need more brands who are advocating for safer ingredients, sourcing responsibly, and being environmentally conscious and I personally want to support those brands.
Beautycounter Skincare Reviews of the Top Selling Beautycounter Products:
On to the Beautycounter skincare reviews! Please keep in mind everyone’s skin is different, so these opinions are very personal to me, my skin, and my preferences.
Beautycounter Skincare Reviews – Cleansers
Counter+ Lotus Glow Cleansing Balm
Counter+ Lotus Glow Cleansing Balm – Shop Here
What It Does:
Uses a blend of lotus extract, jojoba oil, and avocado seed oil to hydrate while cleansing. Removes makeup and impurities while nourishing the skin.
How To Use It:
Can be used as an overnight mask or cleanser.
To use as a mask: massage into skin and leave on overnight.
To use as a cleanser: Gently massage an almond sized amount onto dry skin and rinse off. You can use a damp cloth to massage it off, but to be honest, I’m way too lazy to do that. I also like to follow it up with a gel based cleanser, but you don’t have to.
Counter+ Lotus Glow Cleansing Balm Review:
This is a really luxurious cleanser. It feels so velvety soft on the skin and makes me feel like I’m at a spa when I use it. I can feel it nourishing my skin and it takes off makeup so well. It leaves my face feeling so soft and clean.
That being said, even though I like it better than other cleansing balms I’ve tried, I personally just can’t justify the price. Cleanser is not a product that I like to spend a ton of money on. I’d rather skimp in this area and splurge on products that stay on my skin longer.

Beautycounter Skincare Reviews – Toners/Essences
Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence
Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence – Shop Here
What It Does?
This is like a toner, but more nourishing. Formulated with plant-derived Retinatural Complex, mineral-rich sea water, and a fermented blend of sugars, it preps the skin for the next steps of your skincare routine while boosting hydration and radiance.
How To Use It?
Pour a quarter size amount into your hands and press into your face after cleansing and before applying other products.
Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence Review:
Here’s the thing, I never notice a difference with any toners and essences. I know they are supposed to be great for your skin, but I’ve just never understood the hype. I love the feel of the Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence. It’s so soft and silky. It feels incredible going on.
Do I notice a difference in my skin? That I can’t say.
I often get lazy and skip this step. I personally won’t repurchase this, I don’t feel it’s one of the best Beautycounter products. If you’re someone who finds the value in a toner or essence, you may feel differently.
I’m probably the worst Beautycounter consultant because so far my Beautycounter skincare reviews have been less than stellar, but the issues have been me and not the actual product. Keep reading, I promise there are positive Beautcounter skincare reviews coming!

Beautycounter Skincare Reviews – Serums, Treatments, and Masks
The best Beautycounter products definitely live in this category!
Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum

Featuring plant derived Retinatural Complex, a blend of peptides, and amino acids, this serum increases skin firmness and elasticity, reduces the appearance of fine lines, and boosts radiance.
How To Use It?
Smooth 1-2 pumps onto your skin after cleansing and prior to moisturizing. You can use it morning and night, but I only use it at night.
Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum Review:
This is one of the best Beautycounter products! I use it every other night and find it really leaves my skin with a radiant glow, without drying it out. I’ve also found my fine lines to be less pronounced after regularly using this product.

Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel
(one of the best Beautycounter products!)
Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel – Shop Here
What It Does?
A leave on AHA/BHA peel that improves skin texture and clarity while boosting radiance. The glycolic, malic and botanically derived lactic acids clear away dull surface cells, while arginine and essential fatty acids help soothe.
How To Use It?
Apply 1-2 pumps all over face after cleansing. Wait 3-5 minutes before moisturizing.
Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel Review:
I absolutely love this Beautycounter product. I use it a few times a week or up to every other week. I can tend to have sensitive skin that reacts poorly to AHA/BHA peels, but my skin has been really happy with this product.
It’s usually hard for me to notice a difference when using products that promise radiance, but between the Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel and the Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum I’ve seen a huge difference in my skin and received so many compliments. I’ve haven’t been using it since I ran out and I see a huge difference. Just reordered and can’t wait to bring it back into my routine.
This is definitely one of the best Beautycounter products.

Counter+ All Bright C Serum
Counter+ All Bright C Serum – Shop Here
What It Does?
Uses two forms of vitamin C to create a 10% blend to brighten skin and reduce the appearance of dark spots. Antioxidant rich turmeric and camu camu extracts help protect against new dark spots and defend the skin from environmental stressors.
How To Use It?
You can use this as a serum after cleansing or toning or after another serum. I use it as my only serum in the mornings. Follow with moisturizer.
Counter+ All Bright C Serum Review:
I don’t have a rave review for you regarding Counter+ All Bright C Serum, but that being said I keep repurchasing it. I don’t really notice a big difference with it, but I’ve never noticed a difference with any Vitamin C serum I’ve ever tried (and I’ve tried SO many of the most popular ones). I know Vitamin C is an important component in a skin care routine, so I keep using it.
I love that the Beautycounter Vitamin C serum is packaged in a way that it doesn’t get exposed to light, contains 10% potency, and is full of antioxidants. I’m prone to dark spots and didn’t get too many while pregnant, so that might be because of this serum. I also used it on my tummy when I developed dark spots there and it seemed to help.
All that being said, clearly it’s a good product. A lot of people say it’s one of the best Beautycounter products. I just may be too picky, but I want to give you my fully transparent opinion.
TLDR- It’s good enough that I keep repurchasing, but I’m not obsessed.
Counter+ Charcoal Facial Mask
Counter+ Charcoal Facial Mask – Shop Here
What It Does?
Activated charcoal purifies skin while absorbing excess oil and drawing out impurities. Salicylic and lactic acids aid in a gentle exfoliation and minimize the look of pores.
How To Use It?
Apply an even layer to clean skin. Leave on for 10 minutes and rinse off. I use 1-2x a week, but you can use it up to 3 times a week.
Counter+ Charcoal Facial Mask Review:
I LOVE this product! Definitely one of the best Beautycounter products. I’ve always struggled with blackheads and large pores on my nose and this is the first face mask that I felt actually made a huge difference. My nose looks and feels so clean after, as does the rest of my skin. A lot of other charcoal masks dry me out, but this one doesn’t. I’ve also used it on Bassam’s nose and he noticed a big difference as well.

Beautycounter Skincare Reviews – Moisturizers, Oils, and Eye Creams
Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream
Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream – Shop Here
What It Does?
A deeply hydrating cream that support elasticity and visibly firms while minimizing the look of fine lines and wrinkles.
Includes Bakuchiol which provides skincare results comparable to retinol without the downsides (and pregnancy safe) and Swiss Alpine rose which boosts the skin’s antioxidant defense. Tetrapeptide helps increase skin elasticity and minimize the appearance of fine lines.
How To Use It?
Massage a small amount into your skin after any serums. Use nightly.
Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream Review: (why this is one of the best Beautycounter products!)
This is one of the best Beautycounter products and one I consistently repurchase. I was initially hesitant to try it because I worried it might be too thick for my skin. It actually balanced my skin perfectly. It really does help with fine lines. In fact, one of my family members said when she couldn’t get botox during the pandemic, it wasn’t noticeable because of this cream.

Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion
Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion – Shop Here
What It Does?
A lightweight lotion that adapts to the skin throughout the day by adjusting hydration levels based on need. Squalane provides moisture, phytic acid boosts radiance, plum oil nourishes the skin, and shea butter hydrates.
How To Use It?
Massage 1-2 pumps into skin as the last step of your routine. I prefer it for morning.
Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion Review:
I do like this moisturizer a lot, but it’s not a holy grail for me. It’s a nice one to use in the morning and provides lightweight hydration without getting greasy. It’s too light for me for nighttime and doesn’t provide enough benefits for me to use instead of another moisturizer.
If I feel like using a designated day time moisturizer, this is a fantastic choice. I’m usually too lazy to use anything other than my sunscreen though. I often recommend this lotion to people who are just getting started with skincare and are scared off by a heavier lotion.

What It Does?
Omega rich marula oil provides intense hydration and antioxidant rich vitamin C brightens and evens skin tone.
How To Use It?
Apply 4-6 drops onto face as the last step of your facial routine, but before sunscreen if using in the morning.
Counter+ No. 1 Brightening Facial Oil Review:
I like this facial oil enough to keep repurchasing and reusing, but I wouldn’t say it’s one of the best Beautycounter products. It’s a solid facial oil, but nothing too special. That being said, I haven’t found a facial oil from another brand that I like better either.

Counterskin Daily Sheer Defense for Face SPF 25
Counterskin Daily Sheer Defense for Face SPF 25 – Shop Here
What it does?
Lightweight lotion that provides protection from UVA, UVB, and HEV blue light rays. Antioxidants help protect skin from pollution, while chicory root extract supports skin’s moisture barrier to lock in hydration.
Formulated without octinoxate and oxybenzone, two common sunscreen ingredients that contribute to the collapse of coral reefs. Beautycounter helped pass Hawaii’s safer sunscreen act.
How to use it?
Apply liberally alone or on top of moisturizer in the morning. Apply at least 15 minutes prior to sun exposure.
Counterskin Daily Sheer Defense for Face SPF 25 Review:
Sunscreen can be a tricky product to source in a clean and ethical manner. Ones that are clean usually leave a white cast or look terrible under makeup. I find that the Beautycounter sunscreen is sheer and lightweight enough to work well under makeup and not leave me with an obnoxious white cast.
The SPF isn’t as high as I would like. I don’t usually reapply and find that it’s not enough coverage for me. If you’re diligent about reapplying (as is suggested), you may have a different experience. I prefer THIS non Beautycounter sunscreen, but use both.

Countertime Ultra Renewal Eye Cream
Countertime Ultra Renewal Eye Cream – Shop Here
What it does?
Plant-derived Retinatural Complex and Persian silk tree extract reduce the appearance of under-eye shadows and crow’s feet while smoothing, firming, and moistrurizing the under eye area.
How to use it?
Gently pat around your eye area using your ring finger.
Countertime Ultra Renewal Eye Cream Review:
One of my favorite eye creams that I’ve tried and a Beautycounter product that I will continue to repurchase. No eye cream I’ve ever tried has helped with dark circles, so I’m not even looking for that anymore. The Beautycounter ultra renewal eye cream has made a big difference for me in terms of fine lines.
It’s very moisturizing but goes well under makeup and doesn’t make eye makeup run. This is important for me because I don’t want to have to use a different eye cream morning and night if I’m wearing makeup.

Beautycounter Skincare Reviews – Bath and Body
Bath and body is an area for Beautycounter that I’m a bit underwhelmed by. All the products are super luxurious feeling, but a bit overpriced to me. They are a good special occasion product, but not daily use. I also hate that there aren’t many fragrance free options.
Luminous Hydrating Body Oil
Luminous Hydrating Body Oil – Shop Here
What it does?
Grapeseed, argan, rosehip, and passion fruit oils hydrate and soften the skin in this non greasy formula. Formulated without mineral oil or synthetic fillers that may contain potentially harmful ingredients.
How to use it?
Massage all over body after a shower to lock in moisture.
Luminous Hydrating Body Oil Review:
I love this stuff, its so incredibly luxurious feeling and make my skin feel amazing. Some body oils can leave you feeling greasy, but this just leaves skin soft and hydrated.
That being said, I wouldn’t repurchase it because I feel like it’s just way too pricey. I tend to use a lot of body oil. I just don’t find it worth such a high price since I run through it so quickly. This is super basic, but I just use coconut oil.

Hand Cream
What it does?
Lightweight moisturizing cream softens hands with nourishing ingredients like shea butter, organic sunflower oil, vitamin E, aloe, calendula, and chamomile.
How to use it?

Hand cream Review:
A good hand cream. Buy it when it’s on sale or during the holidays when it’s usually sold in a trio with other scents. I buy the trio and keep one in various locations. The scents are not overwhelming.

Beautycounter Skincare Reviews – Makeup
Switching over my makeup to cleaner beauty has been a long process. I usually wait until I’ve finished a product to switch it to something cleaner. I don’t wear makeup very often, so it takes me a long time to run out of a product. All the beauty products I’ve tried from Beautycounter so far have been a big hit!
Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation
Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation – Shop Here
What it does?
Weightless, long wearing, natural looking foundation that delivers hydration and visibly plumps skin thanks to hyaluronic acid. Comes in 18 different shades.
How to use it?
Use fingertips or a foundation brush to blend into your skin. The product description states 1-2 pumps for light coverage and 2-3 pumps for medium coverage. I find 1-2 pumps works well for me.
Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation Review:
Switching over to a clean foundation was really important to me, especially since now Zayn gets so close to my face. I have a hard time with foundations that provide enough coverage for my red skin but also don’t look too intense.
I really love this foundation! It’s just as good as other high end ones I’ve tried. It’s super buildable, so you can get sheer coverage for every day wear or full coverage for going out. It also doesn’t break me out like a lot of other foundations do. I also like that it’s technically good for the skin thanks to the hyaluroinic acid.
Dew Skin gets a lot of attention, but I personally feel Skin Twin is one of the best Beautycounter products.

Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer
Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer – Shop Here
What it does?
Sheer coverage tinted moisturizer helps even skin tone as it protects against sun’s damaging rays with SPF 20 mineral sunscreen. The formula features a blend of black currant seed oil, peony root extract, and vitamin C to help brighten while leaving skin looking radiant.
How to use it?
Massage evenly into skin alone or on top of moisturizer.
Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer Review:
This is one of the most popular Beautycounter products! That being said, it’s not on my list of best Beautycounter products.
I really wanted to like this, but just felt it didn’t do much for me. It’s not high enough SPF and I’m not putting enough on for it to count as my sunscreen for the day. It’s way too sheer to even out my redness at all so I would still need to layer foundation on top. Just feels pointless.
That being said, I’m definitely in the minority here. I know a lot of people swear by this product and wear it every single day.

Sheer Genius Conditioning Lipstick Review:
I’m normally a gloss over lipstick person, but I LOVE this Beautycounter product. The colors are really pretty and the formulation is really moisturizing. It’s almost like a cross between a lipstick and a gloss. This feels so nice on and lasts pretty well for a clean lipstick. I have it in two shades so far and want to try more!

FAQ About Beautycounter and the Best Beautycounter Products
With the Beautycounter skincare reviews out of the way, let’s address some of the FAQ I’ve received.
Best Beautycounter Products to get started with?
You may want to start out with a sampler to see what you like. There are often great samplers around the holidays, so keep an eye out then.
I love the Countertime collection. You could try THIS carry on set and see what you think of the products in the line!
Sign up for a membership as well to try the charcoal mask and the overnight resurfacing peel. More info on that next.
Is the Beautycounter membership worth it?
1ooo%! If you will be placing regular Beautycounter orders or even if your first order is larger than $50, it’s well worth it.
First off, you get an amazing welcome gift. The gift currently includes two of my favorite Beautycounter products, the charcoal mask and the overnight resurfacing peel.
Second, you get 10% back in credit of whatever you spend.
The membership is $29 so you’ve already gotten your money’s worth with just the welcome gift. If you spend $300, you’ve already gotten the membership price back in credits.
Here are the Beautycounter membership perks:
- Free Shipping on Qualifying Orders of $100+
- 10% Product Credit on Applicable Orders
- A welcome gift when you spend $50+ on products when enrolling
- Members exclusive offers

Is being a Beautycounter consultant worth it?
This really just depends on your goals. I became a Beautycounter consultant during a promotion when it was offered for $20 (it’s usually $50). I wasn’t planning on really selling the products, I just wanted to be able to use the 25% consultant discount for my own purchases.
If you feel passionate about the brand and think you will actively try to sell, it’s pretty worth it because the affiliate commission is pretty good.
The only downside to becoming a Beautycounter consultant just for the discount is that you have to sell $1,200 worth of qualifying volume in six months. Your own purchases count towards it. If you have a few family and friends that wanted to buy Beautycounter products you’ll probably meet the requirement.
If you do decide to become a consultant, I suggest signing up under one of my friends instead of me. She is AMAZING and will be able to guide you in your business so much. She manages an incredible team and is super supportive. I’m not very active and don’t have interest in leading a team, so I’m not a great person to sign up under. Message me if you want her info.
What’s the difference between being a member and a consultant?
With a membership you gain perks such as discounts, credits and gifts. You cannot earn affiliate commissions as a member. This is a non re occurring charge but you do need to renew yearly if you want to maintain your membership.
As a consultant, you earn affiliate commissions when others purchase products under from your link. In order to maintain your role, you need to sell a certain amount every 6 months. You’ll be linked with a team based on who you join under. You can participate as little or as much as you want. It’s really what you make out of it. I don’t engage very much as a consultant.
Is Beautycounter pregnancy safe?
This is a good question for your doctor as I cannot provide medical advice. My doctor felt comfortable with me using the products. I actually started using the Countertime collection when we started preparing to conceive because the products use a plant retinol.
This is a lot of information, give me a skincare routine.
Feel free to message me with your concerns and I’ll help you select a Beautycounter skincare routine that will work best for you. I will share mine in an upcoming post.
How do you feel about Beautycounter being an MLM?
I actually really don’t understand the big deal with this.
Maybe because Beautycounter isn’t a traditional type of MLM. It’s actually considered direct retail, because you don’t have to buy through a consultant, you can just buy through the website without buying under anyone. Unlike some MLMs, consultants don’t keep inventory and are not obligated to purchase a certain amount of product. Beautycounter also has a few storefronts and often partners with larger stores such as Target and Sephora.
To me, it’s really like an affiliate program but with better commissions than other affiliate programs. Most affiliates pay pennies in commission and Beautycounter pays about 25% in commission.
As a blogger, I work with lots of affiliates and have never felt any weirdness about that, so I don’t feel any weirdness about this. I would only ever promote a product if I loved it, as I’m just not in the business of lying to people. I hope that came across in my super honest Beautycounter skincare reviews.
It’s also important to look at how different companies function. Most brands have to put a lot of money into storefronts, hiring staff, etc. Since Beautycounter has limited storefronts, they can afford to pay consultants higher commissions.
