Today we’re so excited to share our kitchen reveal with you! It’s often said that the kitchen is the heart of the home and we 100% agree. During the past year when we were displaced from our home, the kitchen was what we missed the most. We’re sooo soo happy to be back and with how it turned out! I pinch myself every day thinking HOW CAN THIS BE REAL LIFE. We’re so insanely happy to get to create memories in this space we love so much.
Grateful for –
The hours I spend productively working from the breakfast table
The meals we make to nourish ourselves
The nights we host the people we love
The light that streams through our windows
The many conversations, laughs, and dance parties we share
Buddy sitting at our feet as we chop veggies, waiting for us to share
Doing the dishes and cleaning up the messes we make
Without further ado, here is our kitchen reveal!

The kitchen has always been our favorite room in our house. It’s the room that made us fall in love with the house from the beginning and what it made it feel like “our home” before we ever even moved in. Had it not been for the damage we experienced during the Woolsey Fire, we probably would never have updated it because we loved it as is. The changes we made during the renovation helped the kitchen feel even more like us and gave it our style, California Coastal with a touch of French Country.
I’ve always been obsessed with an all white kitchen. I think it gives such a light and airy feel, even if you don’t have a lot of natural light. We already had white counters, but painting the walls white made the room look so much brighter! Because we had to replace our refrigerator, we had to repaint the cabinets to match the new fridge panel. I love that the paint we choose looked even whiter and brighter than the original white! Finally, we gave our kitchen chairs and table a little update by painting them the same white.
I don’t normally gravitate towards a lot of color in my home design, but when I do, I go for blue! I’ve always loved the look of a blue kitchen island, it reminds me of a French country home. Although I was nervous, we decided to go for it! I love how it turned out. We did a fun blue peony wallpaper in the guest bathroom nearby to play up the look.
To complement the blue island, we replaced our metal chandeliers and bar stools with open weave rattan pendants and rattan bistro stools. The pendants and the bar stools were a bit of a splurge for us, but I had been lusting after them for so long. I’m so happy we ended up making the splurge because they make me so happy every single time I look at them. They give the room such a pretty California coastal / French vibe that I just love.
The rose gold hardware was a fun last minute detail we decided to add. We were able to find a great deal, which I’ve linked up below. We decided not to get rose gold fridge handles as they were pricey. We also thought it would be safer to go with the stainless steel in case we ever change our mind and go back to our old hardware.
Finally, we also had to replace the windows because our old ones melted in the fire. I love how big these new windows are and how much light they let in! We don’t need to turn on the lights until late afternoon because of how much natural light we get. It’s so much light that the sun is pretty bright in my eyes when I’m working, but it’s a problem I’m happy to have!
When we were in France earlier this year, I bought a few tablecloths at a farmers market. They were super cheap, but such great quality and gorgeous. One of the first things I did when we moved in was wash all the tablecloths and set one out on the table. I’ve been excited to use them for months!
Our kitchen is truly my dream kitchen and I feel so incredibly grateful for it all.

Walls // Benjamin Moore White Dove
It took us a LONG time to figure out our perfect white for the main walls. We had no idea how many different shades of white there are! I joke that the bane of our remodel existence was finding our perfect white. We chose White Dove because we loved that it wasn’t too warm or too cool, while being on the warmer side. We also liked that it has the slightest hint of grey.
Island Cabinets // Benjamin Moore Sheer Romance
I fell in love with Lulworth Blue from Farrow&Ball. It was out of our budget, but I found Benjamin Moore Sheer Romance when searching for a dupe.

The perfect white. Enough said.

WOW! Your kitchen looks absolutely stunning. I wish you a lifetime of joyful experiences in that beautiful space!
I have a query about your choice of Sheer Romance over Lulworth Blue. Do you feel that SR approximates LB very closely, or is it enough of a difference that you consider it a different shade of blue?

Aw thank you so much! Yes, I personally feel the color matched extremely well!
